What is Dive Fest?
Dive Fest is an annual event sponsored by the DWA to focus attention
on the sport of scuba diving, to educate the public about Scuba
Diving (as a tourism product and a career path), and to raise
awareness about Dominica's stunning and unique marine
environment.
The first Dive Fest was held in 1994 and while it has grown in
popularity and activities over the past decade, there are several
events that make up its core. This is a truly unique event in
the Caribbean!
Dive Fest 2007 was bigger and better than ever.
It was the 14th consecutive year of Dive Fest and we were pleased
to see several new major international sponsors come on board.
Along with our major sponsor, Cable and Wireless,
who provide great prizes and support for the event, our new sponsors,
Victorinox Swiss Army, Dive Training Magazine,
Oceanic and Sealife, added exciting
events and prizes to the festivities.
- Oceanic introduced their newest
“Datamask” heads-up display which
allows divers to read their dive profile right in the mask, including
air pressure! The
masks were available for divers to try. Dominica was the final
stop on their world-wide tour to introduce these brand new Datamasks
to the diving community.
- Sealife Cameras debuted their
new underwater cameras, giving divers the chance to test
the cameras out and to take part in photo shoots and a “Best
of Week” competition. The first-ever Divemaster
Photo FIsh ID Competition was a hit! Read

- Dive Training sent down two
photographers, Barry
and Ruth Guimbellot, who put on seminars
and workshops on both underwater and waterfall photography!
- Victorinox Swiss Army teamed
up with local sponsor Jewellers International to make the
ever-popular Underwater Treasure Hunt even more exciting. They
added to the thrill of the hunt by contributing 2
Swiss Army Dive Watches to the winning team.
Along with these events for divers, there was plenty of excitement
for non divers too! Wine and Cheese Sunset Cruises,
Happy Hour dances, Traditional Boat Races and whale watching to
name a few.
